Taupō Marathon is one of New Zealand’s iconic running events, bringing people together across the lakefront for a challenge worth remembering.
Total Sport needed a fresh 2025 medal design that still respected what runners love about receiving a meaningful finish-line keepsake. The brief called for vivid colour, iconic Taupō scenery, native flora and fauna, and a design that felt familiar without simply repeating what had come before.
Legend refreshed the medal with enamel production in mind, simplifying the detail so the artwork could stay bold, bright, and readable at medal size. We enlarged the tūī, used stylised koru, framed the piece with kōwhai and flax, and built a colour palette that felt distinctly Taupō.
The result is a medal with real finish-line energy – clear, colourful, and ready to be shown off long after race day.
