No Crystal Balls, Just Clear Scope How We Price the Quest

The right investment depends on what your website needs to achieve, how much complexity sits behind it, and how important it is to your business.

Most of our commercial website projects sit between $25k and $60k + GST. Larger ecommerce, wholesale, trade, multi-location, or operational platforms often land between $75k and $140k+. Every now and then, a project needs a deeper discovery phase before we can responsibly price it.

We do take on a limited number of smaller marketing website projects each year. If you know what you need, and can keep the scope clear, it is worth getting in touch. Smaller projects work best when the goals are obvious, and the brief is well defined from the start. Not sure? Lets Chat!

Behind the Price What Your Investment Actually Covers

When you invest in a commercial website, you are not just paying for design and development time.

You are paying for the thinking, structure, systems, testing, and technical decisions that make the website useful long after launch.

Our builds typically include strategy, information architecture, UX planning, custom WordPress development, structured content, performance optimisation, analytics setup, deployment, training, and launch support. Larger projects may also include ecommerce, product data, integrations, account-based workflows, location logic, custom search, or operational features.

We are transparent about this because it helps you understand where you fit. If you need a clear marketing website, your project may sit near the lower end of our range. If your website needs to sell, integrate, automate, or support daily operations, the scope and investment increases accordingly.

Scope Before Spend A Process Built for Better Decisions

The best project outcomes happen when everyone understands the scope, complexity, and commercial goal before the build begins.

Our process starts by identifying what your website needs to achieve and what level of investment is appropriate. We review your business goals, audience journeys, content requirements, technical systems, ecommerce needs, integrations, and operational workflows. This allows us to recommend the right level of project instead of forcing every business into the same package.

From there, we move through strategy, architecture, design, development, testing, launch, and handover with clear checkpoints. You get transparency around what is included, what sits outside scope, and what may affect cost so you can make confident decisions before committing to the next stage.

Frequently asked questions Your questions answered.

How do I know which website option is right for us?

You do not need to know that before you get in touch. The Forge, The Vessel, and The Citadel are there to give you a sense of scale. The right fit depends on what your website needs to achieve, how much complexity sits behind it, and how important the site is to your business.

If you need a clear marketing website, your project may sit closer to The Forge. If your website needs ecommerce, integrations, custom workflows, product structures, trade access, or operational functionality, it will likely sit closer to The Vessel or The Citadel. We will help you work that out before recommending a direction.

Why do your website projects vary so much in price?

Because not all websites are doing the same job. A small marketing website and a complex ecommerce or trade platform may both be called “websites”, but the strategy, structure, design, development, testing, integrations, and launch requirements are completely different. We price based on what the project actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all package. The goal is to give you a clear, realistic scope before you commit to serious spend.

What is included in a website project?

Every project is scoped properly before it starts, but most website builds include strategy, sitemap planning, page structure, design, WordPress development, CMS setup, forms, tracking, testing, launch support, and handover. Larger projects may also include ecommerce, product or service architecture, payment systems, CRM or email integrations, booking tools, trade or wholesale workflows, custom search, filtering, and more detailed launch planning. The final scope depends on what your website needs to do.

Do you only build WordPress websites?

WordPress is our main platform for website builds because it is flexible, familiar, scalable, and easy for clients to manage when it is built properly. We use a modern development approach, not bloated off-the-shelf templates. That means your website can be fast, stable, secure, and easier to extend over time. For some projects, we may recommend other tools or integrations alongside WordPress. The platform decision should support the business need, not the other way around.

Can you work with our existing brand and content?

Yes. If you already have strong brand assets, photography, copy, product information, or existing website content, we can work with what you have and shape it into a better structure. If your content needs work, we will identify that early. Content is often one of the biggest factors in whether a website feels clear, useful, and ready to launch.

Can you integrate with our existing systems?

Often, yes. We can scope integrations with tools such as CRMs, email marketing platforms, booking systems, payment providers, product databases, analytics tools, and other third-party platforms. The important part is understanding what needs to connect, how reliable that connection needs to be, and what happens if the system changes later. Integrations can add real value, but they also add complexity, so we scope them carefully.

How long does a website project take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the project. A smaller marketing website may move faster if the scope is clear, content is ready, and decisions are made quickly. A larger ecommerce, trade, or integration-heavy project will need more time for planning, design, development, testing, and launch preparation. We will give you a realistic timeline once we understand the scope. We would rather be clear upfront than promise a rushed launch that creates issues later.

Can you improve our existing website instead of building a new one?

Sometimes. If your current website has a solid foundation, we may be able to improve the structure, content, design, performance, or tracking without starting again. If the site is technically weak, hard to manage, poorly structured, or no longer fit for purpose, a rebuild may be the better investment. We will be direct about that. The right answer is not always “new website”.
